It turns out that construction has taken on a whole new meaning. When we decided to re-design the furniture in the interior, it seemed simple enough. Just make this locker into drawers, move that one over there, let's swap the sink, toilet, and shower locations in the head. You know, some simple stuff. After all, we weren't moving any bulkheads and the beds were all still in the same location. Pretty much the same - except EVERYTHING different. Since then we have had a continuous stream of drawings to review, adjust, and approve for everything in the ship. First this was with our designer, Jane Plachter-Vogel. We thought we were pretty much done when we signed off on her last drawing. But lo and behold, that was just the start. Now we needed to work with Cape Horn's interior designer and builder, Peter Howard. Fortunately, Peter works electronically for much of the work and so we reviewed lots of computer renderings of various rooms and pieces of furniture as we worked out the minute details of every piece of interior construction within Anjumal. On the interior renderings page, I've included a number of these CAD renderings to give feel for how some of the spaces will feel. It will also give you a feel for the detail we discussed items and the care Cape Horn takes in construction. Since then, Peter's team have been busy constructing all this custom furniture. Some early pictures of the furniture can be seem on the furniture pictures pages. Of course the hull continues to proceed. The most current of these pictures are still shown on the construction photos pages. |
