Welcome to the site of Wray and Sherry West and our family.  As we prepare this site, we are embarking on a project to move from our land based lives with three children to move onto a boat.  From there, we'll cruise the wide blue yonder once the kids head off to college and independent lives.  This site shares some of our family photos and these preparations.

Changes Coming

For the past 5 years, we have been spending all of our spare time on our first Anjumal, which was a 65' Cape Horn.  In May 2009 we sold her and two months later went to China to buy our new Anjumal, which is a 55' Bering Yacht.  The new Anjumal is hull number one from this builder.  We took delivery in September and now she is making the boat show circuit for the yacht company.  Since she is in Florida for the winter, I'll have time to do some long needed updating of the web site.

Until I get things organized, here are a few links of interest:

Coastal Explorer Blog - My chart program links with Coastal Explorer's blogging site and makes it easy to enter a blog of my voyages.  Check here for some current information.

Where's Anjumal?  If we are on a voyage, this link will display our current track.

AIS - Anjumal now carries an AIS transmitter.  A cool thing about this is that it can be tracked on web sites that monitor AIS signals.  Although not always visible, when on the move, Anjumal will be spotted on the Marine Traffic site.  Here is a sample of the Fort Lauderdale area.  Anjumal may pop up here this winter from time to time.

 

    

'Anjumal' is the name of our boat.  It is derived from the names of our children -- Andy, Julia, and Mallory.  This way they will be with us wherever we travel. 

The Site

There are three major sections to the site:

Family shares information about our lives, the kids, and the corresponding adventures.

MV Anjumal chronicles the progress of Anjumal - construction, philosophy, and journeys.

For Sale has some information about items we are selling in order to move onto Anjumal.  Happy shopping.

Contact Information

As we make this transition, we will be shifting to more unconventional means of communication.  Land phones will shift to cell phones and satellite phones.  Email will move to text based mail forwarders.  And, Internet access will slow to a fraction of the broadbandwith that has spoiled us.  For now, we still have our broadband connections and we can be reached at the numbers below.  As we make the change we will update this information.
