Family Room and Play Areas

We lived on a lake before and knew what we wanted for beach living, when we designed this house.  This is most evident on this floor with the changing rooms for guests, large storage area for beach toys, direct access from beach, outdoor shower, hot tub for those cool days, etc.  Take a look at what we've done with the play space.

Hot tub/ Bar Area

  • Roughly 15' x 14'
  • Raised 3 steps from the family room
  • Direct access to outdoor shower and stairs to dining deck
  • 8' hot tub
  • Greenhouse windows
  • Bar with sink, liquor cabinets, high capacity icemaker, and bar refrigerator
  • Built in stereo speakers
  • Ceiling fan

Family Room/ Atrium

  • 34' x 14'
  • Atrium area with two sliders out to stone patio - we've used this over the years for large trees, an indoor play gym for the kids, 15' Christmas trees every year, etc.
  • Ceiling fan
  • Brick wall with fireplace and wood box
  • Ceiling housed projection TV system (projector not included with sale), visible from hot tub
  • Built-in surround sound speakers (6)

Beach Bathroom

  • 4' shower
  • Large room for changing and showering as well as for access from beach
  • Accessible from family room or from back hall that goes directly to the stone patio - wet swimmers don't have to go through family room
  • Large closet for extra towels, swim suits, etc.
  • Numerous pegs for hanging wet suits and towels

Two Changing Rooms

  • 6'2" x 7'4" each
  • Pegs on both walls to hang clothes, wet suits, towels, etc.
  • Lots of room for private changing for guests
  • (At Christmas, one of these becomes our private gift wrapping room)

Outdoor Shower

  • Convenient, before going into house with sandy feet
  • On way up stairs from patio to hot tub entrance or dining deck
  • Dual heads and controls for head and foot level sprays

Stone Patio

  • Newly added on 2001 approx 28' x 15'
  • Large sunning area right off family room
  • Wrap around walkways to bath/changing room entrance or stone walk to front of house
  • Built-in waterproof speakers

Expansion Basement

  • Roughly 16' x 13'
  • Unfinished space - our son turned this into his hockey work room with equipment storage and skate sharpening machine

Equipment Basement

  • Roughly 30' x 20''
  • All mechanical equipment - furnace, water heaters, well tank, fuel tank, etc.
  • Warm workshop area
  • Big double doors for storing beach and lake toys in the winter, gardening tools, etc.
  • Walk out for ready access from beach or patio
  • Large area for storage of workshop tools and supplies or any other purpose
